Lycoming County farmer Russell Reitz has been elected as a new member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) State Board of Directors. As a representative on the board, Reitz will serve on behalf of farmers in the Centre, Clinton and Lycoming County Farm Bureaus.
Reitz owns and operates a farm that produces registered Black Angus beef breeding stock and registered South African Boer meat goats. He has served as a county commissioner and was a founding member of a nine-county agency that linked hundreds of local people to local jobs. Reitz has also been active in the Lycoming County Farm Bureau, serving as the board Vice President and Governmental Relations Director.
“I am honored and humbled to be elected to the position by fellow farmers and I want them to know that the opportunity and responsibility to serve them will be taken very seriously as we work together with Pennsylvania Farm Bureau to meet our goals,” said Reitz.
Reitz is a member of the board of directors for FARMER, PFB’s bipartisan political action committee, and would like to see the PAC become more influential in putting friends of agriculture in the General Assembly. Reitz also has been an insurance agent for over four decades.
Reitz succeeds Marlene Reese, who had reached the tenure limit of eight consecutive years on the board, representing PFB’s District 6.
Reitz was nominated by caucuses of county Farm Bureaus in the 6th district during PFB’s 58th Annual Meeting held November 17-19 in Hershey and was approved by PFB Voting Delegates. |
