State Board Director

Cambria County farmer Martin “Marty” Yahner has been elected as a new member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) State Board of Directors.  As a representative on the board, Yahner will serve on behalf of farmers in the Cambria, Clearfield and Indiana County Farm Bureaus.
Yahner is a sixth-generation farmer who operates a feeder-to-finish beef cattle feedlot in partnership with his brother.  The farm raises about 500 herd of Angus cross cattle annually.  The brothers also grow 1,800 acres of corn, oats, wheat and hay in northern Cambria County.
Yahner has been instrumental in the Cambria County Farm Bureau since 1985, holding numerous posts, including county president for a total of 12 years.  He is currently serving as the county board’s Governmental Relations Director and Information Director.
“After serving for many years at the county level and on state and national Farm Bureau committees, I felt it was time to step into this position and serve Farm Bureau at the state level in whatever capacity I can.  I’m looking forward to working with the State Board,” said Yahner.
Yahner succeeds Leon Kriner, who had reached the tenure limit of eight consecutive years on the board, representing PFB’s District 12.
Yahner was nominated by caucuses of county Farm Bureaus in the 12th district during PFB’s 58th Annual Meeting held November 17-19 in Hershey and was approved by PFB Voting Delegates.
