Developing Leaders and Influencing the Political Process
More women are needed in every aspect of the Farm Bureau organization. This includes being a spokespersons for agriculture, working on project teams, coordinating programs, contacting legislators and teachers, making decisions on county and state boards, and so on. We can find an activity to match your interest and personal skills.
Leadership development opportunities include one-on-one coaching, public speaking training, networking at the leadership conference, committee training, and hands -on experience.
FARM-Tastic County Book Program
The PA State Women’s Leadership Committee is proud to announce the 2013 FARM-tastic Book Program to promote agricultural literacy in the public and elementary school libraries within Pennsylvania.
The FARM-tastic Book for 2013 is The Guardian Team by Cat Urbigit (American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture’s Book of the Year for 2013). It provides a unique look at the fascinating process that Reno (a pup) and Roo (a burro) undergo to become guardian animals. The author shows how Rena and Roo develop their guarding instincts from their first days on the Wyoming ranch; to the time they spend in the big pasture keeping watch over a herd of sheep.
The Guardian Team can be purchased for $10.00 to be donated to a local library. In addition to the book, you can purchase sheep magazines (30 in each pack) for $5.00 and an educator guide for $3.50 per guide. Each County Farm Bureau has a copy of the book and a sheep magazine.
You should contact your County Farm Bureau President or County Women’s Leadership Chairperson if you are interested in purchasing a book. Orders & money must be submitted by April 30 for the first order and July 31st for the second order.
