Pesticide Storage
Plan pesticide purchases so that supplies are used by the end of the growing season. For winter storage, keep pesticides at temperatures above freezing, under dry conditions, and out of direct sunlight.
Tips for Pesticide Storage
1. Read the label for special storage recommendations or restrictions.
2. Write the purchase or delivery date of the product on the label with indelible ink, as products may lose effectiveness over time.
3. Insure proper ventilation where pesticides are stored.
4. Store herbicides separately from other pesticides to avoid contamination.
5. Check for signs of quality deterioration (shown in Table D-1 ).
How to Handle Pesticides that have frozen
After freezing, place pesticides in warm storage (50o-80oF) and shake or roll container every few hours to mix product or eliminate layering. If layering persists or if all crystals do not completely dissolve, do not use product. If in doubt, call the manufacturer. For a listing of winter storage of pesticides, see Table D-2 . Additional information can be found on manufacturers' websites.
