For the Pilot Counties of Armstrong, Beaver, Berks, Centre, Chester, Columbia, Franklin and Lycoming:
The carbon credit trading program developed by Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) in association with the Global Emissions Exchange (GEX) is now open for business in eight pilot counties. The GEX website has been activated and is now accepting registrations of no-till farm practices for carbon credits.
The service also enables registration for carbon credits by the users of biodiesel fuel in all Pennsylvania counties effective immediately.
The web-based program is a two-step process: 1) Establish an account with GEX; 2) Register no-till projects and/or biodiesel fuel purchases. See the guide on these pages that will take you step-by-step through the process.

Carbon credits for no-till projects can earned for the 2008 crop year if they are registered no later than April 30th. No-till projects for 2009 can be registered anytime during the 2009 crop year.
Plans are to expand the no-till portion of the program to other Pennsylvania counties in the near future.
