Nutrient management has improved, state official says

The director of nutrient management programs for the state conservation commission said tighter regulations in Pennsylvania might be convincing meat processors to expand in neighboring states instead of in the Keystone State.   More >>

2007-2008 Penn State Agronomy Guide Now Online - The new guide addresses:  Soil fertility; corn, sorghum, soybean, small grains, and forage management; cover crops; organic crop production; and farm budgets. The latest weed, insect, and disease management guidelines for the major agronomic commodities also are provided.  A printed version of the guide is available through most county extension offices.

Pennsylvania's Nutrient Management Program - This web site provides a comprehensive source of information about Pennsylvania's Nutrient Management Act Program, and associated technical guidance and educational information.
 
State Conservation Commission Nutrient Management - The Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission administers the Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Program (Act 38) formerly known as (Act 6 of 1993)  through its staff  in cooperation with the state departments of Agriculture (PDA) and Environmental Protection (DEP). This program is conducted directly by the Commission and through conservation districts that have received approved delegated authority. 
 
New Manure Trader Web Site Turns Trash into Treasure!  Visitors can browse available and wanted listings or log in to create a confidential listing.  The site allows users to sort listings by type, price, quantity and date listed.  It also includes broker and hauler directories.

DEP's Nutrient Management website - The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) administers and enforces related state water quality protection programs, and the state implementation of federal regulations related to nutrient management.  This website provides information on DEP's regulation of CAFOs, manure storage facilities, and land application of manure.
