After several months of exploration and development, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) will soon launch a Carbon Credit Trading Program for Pennsylvania agriculture. Working with your county Farm Bureau, PFB is pleased to inform you that Armstrong, Beaver, Berks, Centre, Chester, Columbia, Franklin and Lycoming counties have been selected (based on numerous factors) to be the eight (8) pilot counties for the 2009 crop year. 2007-2008 Penn State Agronomy Guide Now Online - The new guide addresses: Soil fertility; corn, sorghum, soybean, small grains, and forage management; cover crops; organic crop production; and farm budgets. The latest weed, insect, and disease management guidelines for the major agronomic commodities also are provided. A printed version of the guide is available through most county extension offices.

State Conservation Commission Nutrient Management - The Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission administers the Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Program (Act 38) formerly known as (Act 6 of 1993) through its staff in cooperation with the state departments of Agriculture (PDA) and Environmental Protection (DEP). This program is conducted directly by the Commission and through conservation districts that have received approved delegated authority. |
