Healthy Farms, Healthy Schools Grant
The Healthy Farms and Healthy Schools Program, as authorized by Act 184 of 2006, was established to educate kindergartners and their families about the importance of choosing healthy, locally produced foods while increasing awareness of Pennsylvania agriculture.

Any Pennsylvania school district, charter school or private school with a kindergarten program is eligible to apply for the Healthy Farms and Healthy Schools funds. A maximum of $15,000 may be awarded to applicants and a 25% match is required, either in the form of monetary or in-kind expenditures.

USDA Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education
Describes sustainable agriculture educational programs, curricula and other materials for pre-K through 12th grade schoolchildren. Lists contacts and Web links, plus suggestions for using lessons in course planning.

Pennsylvania Environment and Ecology Education
You will find a variety of lesson plans and integrated units of study. Lesson plans and units of study from the Governor’s Institutes, Using the Environment as a Context for Learning (the EIC) Model districts and Exemplary School Districts work can be found here. Lesson plans will continually be added as new projects accord under the direction of the Office of Environment and Ecology, Bureau of Teaching and Learning Support are undertaken.

Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture
While many agricultural concepts can be learned in a classroom they can be greatly enhanced by reaching beyond the walls of a school. This site offers information on hands-on learning opportunities as well as fun projects to complete for schools or fairs. Here you'll find cool places to surf on the web as well as a list of speakers who can bring additional insight and expertise to a subject. And each quarter we'll feature a teacher who gives agricultural education a special twist!

Penn State Sustainable Ag
This website is intended to serve as a sustainable agriculture information center and will highlight ongoing activites in sustainable agriculture. Our goal is to provide meaningful information to scientists, farmers, policymakers and extension educators interested in all aspects of agriculture.

NASS “Agriculture Counts” Lesson Plans
These plans are structured for grades Kindergarten through 12. Our goal is to create fun lessons that incorporate agriculture into English, math, geography, science, and social studies.

USDA Agriculture in the Classroom
Agriculture in the Classroom is a grassroots program coordinated by the United States Department of Agriculture. Its goal is to help students gain a greater awareness of the role of agriculture in the economy and society, so that they may become citizens who support wise agricultural policies.

Penn State Cooperative Extension - Penn State Cooperative Extension is an educational network that gives people in Pennsylvania's 67 counties access to Penn State's resources and expertise.

Pennsylvania Beef Council (PBC)
The Council seeks to promote the beef industry in Pennsylvania and educate consumers through a variety of programs and resources. The Beef Checkoff and Pfizer Inc. collaborated to produce this math curriculum addressing two nutrition issues identified by both health experts and teachers as essential in helping youth understand the benefits of healthy eating. Through a series of seven activities, children learn the importance of choosing nutrient-rich foods first and techniques for visualizing appropriate portion sizes. The eighth lesson addresses physical activity and it's relation to weight management. Choose Well includes a Telly award-winning video and a copy of Appetite Attack, an action-packed computer game from the Parents' Choice 2006 Approved Award-Winning Web site, www.zip4tweens.com. National Farm City Council
A non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the linkages between farm families and urban residents, providing local organizations with educational programs and materials about the people who grow their food.

Animals in Science: A Resource Guide was created in response to requests from educators and students for information about the use of animals in research. It contains the current information on the subject - information essential to an informed decision about the propriety of animal use.

Pennsylvania Integrated Pest Management Program (PA IPM)
at the Pennsylvania State University is dedicated to assisting educators in gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to
effectively teach IPM in the classroom and to help students become good decision makers.
