Please donate today to a large animal veterinary scholarship endowment at the University of Pennsylvania. In pursuit of our Foundation’s mission, we feel it is critically important to raise awareness of the need for veterinarians who work in food supply; the food chain from farm to fork. However, the real issue is the debt graduates are faced with upon entering the field of veterinary medicine. When starting salaries for a small animal veterinary practice tend to be 30-50% higher than those of food animal medicine or equine medicine and the graduates are faced with huge student loan bills, their logical move is working for the small animal practice.
Both the veterinary and agricultural communities of Pennsylvania are concerned about developing veterinarians who will choose to care for producers’ livestock. This is critical to our ability to manage biosecurity, public health and food safety. We firmly believe in order to entice Pennsylvania students who attend the University of Pennsylvania to create a large animal practice; we must provide scholarship assistance to them.
To this end, we ask for your assistance in this very important endeavor. Simply put, we need your help! The families of Pennsylvania need your help; farmers need your help! The funds donated will support a scholarship endowment fund where every dollar will make a difference to University of Pennsylvania students and help ensure the veterinary program can continue to attract students with a zest for studying the health, welfare, and medical needs of large animals.
