Do you know how to turn corn into plastic? Ask the kids from our Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab – they can explain it step-by-step. They can also tell you how to make glue from milk, and how to identify grains. If time allows, they might even explain the principles of soil conservation. And while you listen to the enthusiasm of these children, remember: it is all made possible by your support of the Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation.
Your generosity also benefits teachers. More than 1,000 Pennsylvania educators have attended our Ag in the Classroom (AITC) workshops – programs that include visits to farms and research facilities, hands-on experiments, and professional curriculum materials ready for use in the classroom. And like the young students in the mobile ag labs, teachers leave AITC with a new enthusiasm for agriculture.
Your support makes new programs possible as well. Discussions are underway to expand the Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab program. A proposed second level of Ag in the Classroom could offer an even more in-depth study of core agricultural concepts. Also under consideration is a mobile agricultural lending library from which teachers could borrow specialized textbooks and reading materials.
Your generous support of the 15th Annual Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Golf Classic helps us deliver a very important message: food, fiber, and the energies of tomorrow all come from farmers.
Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation thanks you for your support.
