Committee Sponsoring Seminars at PFB Annual Meeting
The State Women’s Committee will be sponsoring several worthwhile seminars for those attending Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting next month at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center, Hershey. The sessions are informative and entertaining and well worth your attention. What’s more – attendance is free (except for the Women’s Luncheon) whether you’re attending the Annual Meeting or just driving in for a visit.

Monday, November 17
11:45-1:45 p.m. – Women’s Luncheon
Speaker: Farmer Joe Peck
Joe has been entertaining audiences for years with a combination of enlightened inspiration, homespun yarns and stand-up comedy, drawn from a lifetime of farm experience. Joe Peck, with his son David, milks 100 registered Holsteins at Peckhaven Farm, a Dairy of Distinction, near Saratoga Springs, New York. Joe wrote a humorous column “Peck’s Peckings” for eight years in the American Agriculturalist magazine.

2:00-3:00 p.m. -- Food Check Out Day
Speaker: Jim Murray, Ronald McDonald House Charities
Jim Murray is a member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Local Operations Advisory Council and past president of the International Advisory Board for the Ronald McDonald Houses.He is also president of Jim Murray Ltd., a sports promotion and marketing firm. During Murray’s more than nine years as general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles, he took the franchise from the NFL’s cellar to Super Bowl heights.
Tuesday, November 18
3:15-4:15 p.m. – “Dare to Risk Life Change”
Speaker: Rebecca Long Chaney, Mother, Farm Wife, Author
“Dare to Risk Life Change” is Rebecca’s featured presentation which highlights the trials and tribulations of a yearlong adventure overseas with her husband, Lee, mostly on an 880,000-acre cattle ranch in the Australian Outback. The incredible life-changing journey, filled with physical and emotional challenges, led to the publication of “Bulldust In My Bra.” An American Couple’s Working Season in the Outback. Chaney is also proud to highlight the first book in a new agricultural education children’s book series by their twin daughters has been released entitled, “Little Star... Raising Our First Calf.”
Wednesday, November 19
9:30-11:30 a.m. – “Growing Well with Pain”
Speaker: Penny Cowan, American Chronic Pain Association
“Growing Well with Pain” is a workshop for farmers, ranchers, and their caregivers who are living with chronic pain. The session will explore ways to regain control of pain by taking an active role in the recovery process. This event is co-sponsored by the American Chronic Pain Association (www.theacpa.org) and AgrAbility for Pennsylvanians.
