YF&R to Host Kiddie Tractor Pulls at Ag Progress Days
It’s hard to believe that summer is quickly fading away. One sure sign of summer turning to fall is that Ag Progress Days held every year at Rock Springs is quickly approaching. This three-day trade show is an excellent opportunity to step away from the hard work of the summer and visit the extensive exhibits of equipment, machinery, food stands, and of course, the PA Farm Bureau building.
The State Young Farmer & Rancher Committee would like to invite everyone to visit the booth, and bring your kids a long for the Kiddie Tractor Pulls!
The committee will be holding the Kiddie Tractor Pulls each day at 10:30 and 1:30. Children between the ages of 5-10 are invited to participate in the tractor pulls. This is a great opportunity to visit the PFB building (located near the corner of East 5th and Main Streets) and have some fun! We hope that you will take a moment to visit the building and take a look at everything PFB has to offer at Ag Progress Days!
If your children enjoy the Kiddie Tractor Pulls why not use them at your next fair or festival event? The equipment provided by the State Young Farmer & Rancher Committee is available for use in the county. Please contact Rachel Ebert, Committee Director, if you are interested by calling 717-731-3514.

YF&R Shapes the Future …
and Provides Opportunity to Win a Dodge Pickup
The average age of an American farmer is 55, and the average American is three generations removed from the farm. So what does this mean for the future of agriculture?
It means young leadership is needed.
Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers are rising to meet this challenge. YF&R helps young producers shape the future of agriculture, as well as their individual futures, with leadership development and personal growth. Opportunities such as leadership conferences, held annually at the state and national level, allow young agricultural leaders to serve the industry, build their skills and have fun. More than 700 young farmers and ranchers gather during the national conference every year to network and learn from other young leaders.
For some YF&R members, the future includes winning a new Dodge Ram pick-up truck. Three young national winners this year will receive a Dodge Ram, courtesy of Dodge, to showcase the best-of-the-best in the Achievement Award, Discussion Meet and Excellence in Ag competitions.
The winner of the Achievement Award will win a 2009 “nicely equipped” Dodge Ram 3500, as well as paid registration to the 2009 YF&R Leadership Conference, February 7-9, 2009 in Sacramento, California. Each of the four runners up will receive a Case IH DX compact tractor.
The top Discussion Meet winner will receive a 2009 “nicely equipped” Dodge Ram 2500, as well as paid registration to the 2009 YF&R Leadership Conference, February 7-9, 2009 in Sacramento, California. Each of the three runners up will receive a $6,000 U.S. Savings Bond and a Farm Boss on behalf of Stihl.
The winner of the Excellence in Agriculture Award will receive a 2009 “nicely equipped” Dodge Ram 1500, as well as paid registration to the 2009 YF&R Leadership Conference, February 7-9, 2009 in Sacramento, California. Each of the runners up will receive a $6,000 U.S. Savings Bond and a Farm Boss on behalf of Stihl.
The winners will be determined during American Farm Bureau’s 90th annual convention in San Antonio, Texas, January 11-14, 2009.
