George Wherry operates a family livestock, sheep and cattle farm. Previously, he was a coal miner for 28 years. 

 

He has been a Pennsylvania Farm Bureau member since 1975, serving as county board president as well as on the county board of directors.

 

He is a graduate of Penn State University College of Agricultural Sciences and has a B.S. degree in animal husbandry.

 

He and his wife are the proud parents of six children, five girls and one boy. Mrs. Wherry is now deceased.

 

He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Sheep & Wool Growers Association and an American Sheep Industry member.
