Ernest Mattiuz, Jr. has a 93-acre beef cow/calf operation with hay and grain. He retired from SGL Group in 2012 as tooling design engineer.
Mattiuz served as Elk County Farm Bureau Vice President from 1998 to 2012 and currently serves as governmental relations director, membership chairperson and county board secretary.
He is a 1968 graduate of St. Marys Area High School and took correspondence courses from Pittsburgh Institute of Technology and Penn State.
His family includes his wife, Rosemary, two step children, Brian and Joann, and one grandson, Austin.
He is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a volunteer at Lenten Fish Fries. Mattiuz also volunteers at the Fox Township Community Park for holiday celebrations.
He was named Elk County Farmer of the Year 1998 for service to the agriculture industry and community services. He was also named a lifetime member of the Fox Township Sportsman Club in 2000 for service to the Club.
He served as manager of the Elk County Fair from 1978 to 2000 and still helps with consulting work. He also serves as Fox Township auditor and on the Board of Directors for Mountain Laurel Federal Credit Union, where he serves as co-chair of hte Credit Committee and a licensed mortage loan originator.
