County News & Events

Monthly meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at the Wayne County Chamber Building on Commercial St. in Honesdale at 7:30 PM.

Pantry Donation

The combined effort of the Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau and the Western Wayne National Honor Society yielded approximately $450 worth of canned foods which were recently donated to the Honesdale Emergency Pantry.  This local pantry relies exclusively on donations from the public and is not affiliated with Wayne County's pantry system.

 Farmer to Farmer Event

A spirit of cooperation and a shared love of all things farming were evident at the Farmer to Farmer networking event held recently at the Cooperage.

Members of local ag groups including Wayne Tomorrow, SEEDS, Wayne County Grown PASA and the Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau made up the crowd of about sixty.

Opening the evening were Jenna Mauder of the Cooperage and Zach Jones, Young Ag Professionals chair of the Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau. Both spoke of the need for those involved in all facets of agriculture to work together and help each other for the benefit of all who embrace the farm lifestyle.

The positive atmosphere in the room invited friendly conversation and a sharing of knowledge. New ideas were formed, business connections were made and the feeling that we're all in this together prevailed.

Local Service to Ag

The Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau presented the “Local Service to Ag” award to Marjorie and the late John Marshall at their Annual Fall Dinner on October 12.

John Marshall was raised on a dairy farm in Berlin Township. As a 4H project, he kept bees and won several awards at the PA Farm Show. He became a 4H leader and was the summer assistant for

the Sullivan County Extension.

John always loved farm equipment. He began buying and selling on a small scale until 1959 when he founded Marshall Machinery in Beach Lake.

Along with raising their five children, Marjorie served as a 4H leader for 25 years. She and John were very involved with the Wayne County Fair, always supporting 4H programs for local youth.

Marjorie presently oversees a scholarship fund for students entering the field of diesel mechanics.

Both Marjorie and John served on the Wayne County Extension Board for many years and have been faithful Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau members.

Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau is proud to honor Marjorie and John Marshall for their lasting commitment to agriculture which will continue into the future through their children.
