Farmers Gain Income Tax Deadline Extension from Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue has agreed to extend the special farmer March 1 deadline to April 15. Earlier the IRS, due to delays created by the late passage of the fiscal cliff compromise, gave farmers the same extension. Knowing the amount of confusion that would result from different federal and state March 1 deadlines, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau requested that the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue provide for matching deadline relief. Revenue Secretary Daniel Meuser said farmers would be given the April 15 extension and would not incur interest or other penalties for filing by the new deadline. Farmers use their federal filings as the basis for their state filings, and most would have been unable to meet the March 1 deadline because of the federal delays. Pennsylvania Farm Bureau thanks the Department of Revenue for their prompt attention to our request.
