PA Top Award Winner with California and Illinois
(Salt Lake City, UT) – Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) garnered five communications awards, including the Best Public Relations Campaign Award and the prestigious Dave Lane Award for Media Relations Excellence, during the American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) SPARC Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Under the category of Best Public Relations Campaign, the judge dubbed Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s extensive and strategic award winning effort to save Agriculture Research facilities and Cooperative Extension services administered by Penn State University as “truly a PR success story where PFB played a substantial role.”
Meanwhile, the Dave Lane Award for Media Relations Excellence recognizes the state Farm Bureau that does the best job of building and maintaining working relationships with members of the news media. It marked the fourth consecutive year PFB earned the top honor and the seventh time PFB took home the award over the past eight years. The award is presented in honor of past AFBF Director of Media Relations Dave Lane.
Pennsylvania, California and Illinois were the top overall award winners among state Farm Bureaus across the United States. In addition, PFB was recognized with four honorable mentions. Pennsylvania competes in the under 80,000 member division.
PFB also received communications awards for Best Column Series, Best Single Blog Item, Editorial or Column and Best Graphic Design.
Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Rick Ebert’s “President’s Message,” which appears in the Country Focus publication, was selected as the winner for the Best Column Series, while President Ebert’s Opinion Editorial focusing on the possible dire consequences of shutting down Penn State Agriculture Research and Cooperative Extension due to the state budget crisis took home honors for the Best Single Blog Item, Editorial or Column.
Finally, the judge in the Best Graphic Design category found PFB’s giveaway beef visor to be eye-catching, clever and fun, while simultaneously promoting agriculture and Farm Bureau.
