(Camp Hill) – The deadline is fast approaching to nominate conservation-minded farmers and forest landowners for the 2020 Pennsylvania Leopold Conservation Award®. Nominations for the award are due Aug. 1.

 

Sand County Foundation presents the Leopold Conservation Award to private landowners in 21 states for extraordinary achievement in voluntary conservation. In Pennsylvania, the $10,000 award is presented annually with Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and Heinz Endowments.

 

Given in honor of renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, the award recognizes landowners who inspire others with their dedication to land, water and wildlife habitat management on private, working land.

 

Nominations may be submitted on behalf of a landowner, or landowners may nominate themselves. Nominations are reviewed by an independent panel of agricultural and conservation leaders.

The 2019 Pennsylvania Leopold Conservation Award was presented earlier this year to Mt-Glen Farms, owned by Dean and Rebecca Jackson of Bradford County. The 2020 award is planned to be presented in January 2021.
